Mini Dabeli Pizza

 

(A fusion dish created using a mini pizza base and Indian Dabeli masala).

Combining Indian recipes with global cuisine is a fun thing to do! Such combinations tickle our Indian tastebuds while giving us the satisfaction of eating something unique. This is one such fusion appetiser which uses mini pizza bases and Dabeli masala to create a delicious dish!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg potatoes (आलू)

  • 12 mini pizza bases (मिनी पिज़्ज़ा बेस )

  • 2 groundnut oil ( मूँगफली का तेल)

  • 1 tsp garlic paste (लहसुन का पेस्ट)

  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder (लाल मिर्च पाउडर )

  • 2 tbsp dabeli masala (दाबेली मसाला)

  • 5 tbsp dates - tamarind chutney (खजूर इमली की चटनी)

  • 1 tsp sugar (शक्कर)

  • 2 tbsp dried coconut grated (कसा हुआ सूखा नारियल)

  • 1 tbsp butter (बटर)

  • 1 medium red onion (प्याज़ )

  • 4 tbsp masala peanuts (मसाला पीनट्स)

  • 2 tbsp tutti frutti (टूटी फ्रूटी)

  • 4 tbsp cheese grated (कसा हुआ चीज)

  • 4 tbsp fine sev (बारीक़ सेव)

  • salt as per taste (नमक )

  • coriander leaves chopped (धनिए के पत्ते)


    Method

  • Wash the potatoes and boil them. Mash the boiled potatoes and set them aside.

  • In a heavy bottom pan, add oil. When the oil heats up add garlic paste, red chilli powder, Dabeli masala, and sprinkle a little water to prevent the masala from burning.

  • Add mashed potatoes and a cup of water to it. Mix everything well.

  • Pour in the dates-tamarind chutney in it. Add salt and a little sugar.

  • Smoothen the mixture using a potato masher and make sure large potato chunks are not left in the mixture.

  • Add dry grated coconut and coriander leaves. Cook till the mixture gets a thick consistency. Set this Dabeli potato mixture aside.

  • Heat some butter in a pan. Toast the mini pizzas on this butter on both sides.

  • Spread the dates-tamarind chutney and Dabeli potato mixture on each pizza base.

  • Add chopped onions, masala peanuts, pomegranate arils, tutti frutti, grated cheese, fine sev and coriander leaves on each base.

MINI DABELI PIZZAS ARE READY TO EAT !!

Notes -

  • I have used store-bought mini pizza bases. If you don’t get them, you can use the regular pizza bases and cut them into small slices.

  • You can make the Dabeli potato mixture beforehand and store it in the refrigerator. Reheat and use it when you are ready to make the pizzas.

  • You can use the extra potato mixture to make Dabelis later.
