Why use store-bought sauces, which are loaded with preservatives, when you can make them easily at home? This is one of the simplest Italian sauces that can be used in a variety of dishes. You can add it to your pasta, or spread it on your pizza, or use it to make lovely appetizers!

Initially, I referred to this sauce as my ‘pasta sauce’.Then, I stumbled upon the name Marinara sauce and I wondered what this name means? It turns out, the word ‘Marinara’ comes from the word ‘Mariner’. This sauce was extensively used by Italy’s merchants on long sea expeditions, in earlier days. Thus, this sauce came to be known as the Marinara sauce.

  • The consistency of this sauce can be adjusted as per your taste. You can keep it a little coarse or make it into a fine paste too.

  • We add the basil leaves after turning off the heat. This prevents the leaves from wilting.

  • You can store this sauce in an air-tight container and refrigerating it later.

  • We add a whole onion to this recipe just to get the flavor. After removing it from the mixture, you can eat this onion - it tastes yummy!!
