Hello! I’m Gauri Nigudkar!

About me

I am a ‘Mumbai chi mulgi’ (a girl from Mumbai, India), and a perpetual student of life!

After completing a master’s degree in Organic Chemistry, I was hoping to pursue higher education. However, destiny had other plans! It opened new avenues for me and took me into the showbiz industry – a world of very different chemistries!

I worked in television, commercials, and films. As an actor, I was lucky to work closely with some of the best photographers and cinematographers in the country! I kept learning a lot from them - consciously and subconsciously. Over the years, I got very passionate about photography and kept pursuing it as a hobby.

In 2020, during the lockdown, I casually started photographing my food. Thus, began my journey in the world of food photography. I loved the fact that I could create beautiful images, without anybody’s help, in the comfort of my home!! I grew increasingly passionate about this form of photography- and here I am creating this site to share my work with all of you!

I cook food because I am passionate about photographing it. I like to cook but I am not the kind who spends hours in the kitchen. I believe that good food is often simple and that our grandmothers were always right about food!

About Bites & Bokeh

Bites & Bokeh is specifically created to document my food photography journey. It was also created with the intention to do justice to healthy Indian food. On my recipe blog, I share some simple Indian vegetarian and vegan recipes. There are some indulgent and not-so-Indian ones too!
