Chocolate Sheera/ Halwa
(A no-bake, eggless sweet dish made from semolina and cocoa powder).
This is an ingenious, simple-to-follow sweet recipe that gets ready to get on the table in no time! It’s a massive hit with kids and adults alike. It feels like a rich chocolate cake but doesn’t require any baking. It is healthier than baked desserts, as it doesn’t contain any refined flour or heavy cream/butter. Ingredients
For the Sheera-
1 cup semolina (सूजी/रवा)
1/4 cup clarified butter (शुद्ध देसी घी)
1 cup milk (दूध)
1 cup water (पानी)
1 cup sugar(चीनी)
1/4 cup cocoa powder (कोको पाउडर)
4 tbsp chopped walnuts/almonds (अखरोट/बादाम)
For the garnish -
chopped nuts
choco chips (optional)
Method
In a pan start heating the clarified butter(ghee). Add semolina (sooji) and roast it on low flame till fragrant. Keep stirring the semolina to avoid burning it.
Simultaneously, add milk, water, sugar, and cocoa powder to a pot. Stir and bring the mixture to a boil.
Add this hot mixture to the pan with semolina slowly, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
Keep heating and stirring the mixture till it thickens (see the recipe video link above).
Add chopped nuts and little ghee to the mixture. Give it a nice stir. Turn off the heat.
Garnish with chopped nuts.
CHOCOLATE SHEERA/HALWA IS READY TO BE SERVED!
SERVE HOT/COLD.
Notes -
If you are allergic to nuts, you can totally skip adding nuts to this halwa.
You can store this halwa in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. This tastes good when cold. You can reheat it in a microwave oven if you prefer to eat it hot.
