The Red Detox Drink

(A miracle drink made from beetroot, carrots, and tomatoes).

Festivals are an excuse to feast! The Ganapati festival has ended, and Navratri is just around the corner. Thus basically, it is the festive season in India. So we are talking about a lot of good food, aren’t we? It is criminal not to eat those enticing meals and sweets, that are a part of every festival! However, cleaning up our system after all this overload becomes necessary. Today I share a simple detox drink that does just this. A coolant, a digestive drink, loaded with nutrients is the perfect way to flush out the toxins from the body. This drink is made from 3 everyday ingredients -

1) Beetroot - rich in anti-oxidants, phytonutrients, folate(Vitamin B9),and many more useful minerals. Raw beets provide more nutrition than cooked ones. So, we use raw beets to make this juice.

2) Tomatoes - loaded with vitamin A,C, K, and lycopene. These juicy, little red beauties help nourish the body in so many different ways.

3) Carrots - full of carotenoids, and vit A. The fiber in carrots help keep the blood sugar levels under control. Eating carrots regularly helps support gut-health, boosts eye health, aids in digestion, and strengthens the bones. What else could one ask for?

I was introduced to this drink by my dear friend Delnaaz Irani (Delu), who carried it to the sets. I remember sipping this drink between the shots in our makeup room, and feeling refreshed! That’s how I became a fan of this drink! So go on, make this drink, and enjoy the festivals guilt-free!

Ingredients

  • 1 chilled beetroot peeled and diced

  • 1 chilled tomato diced (tamatar)

  • 2 medium-sized chilled carrots diced (gajar)

  • 1/2 tbsp sugar (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp pink salt

Method

  • Place all the veggies in a blender jar. Add salt, sugar, and water. Blend to a very smooth consistency.

  • Pour the contents of the jar on a strainer, and press properly to remove all the juice from the veggies.

  • Add cold water to adjust the consistency, or add ice cubes to it.

THE RED DETOX DRINK IS READY TO BE SERVED.

SERVE COLD.

Notes -

  • Use refrigerated veggies for this juice, so that the juice will be cold.

  • You can choose to drink the juice without straining it to get more fiber. I prefer to strain it, as I like the smooth consistency of this juice.

  • Do not store this juice for a long time. Ideally, you should consume it immediately. If not then you can keep it refrigerated max for 2-3 hours.
