Chocolate Oats Porridge
(Super-easy, kid-friendly, quick, and healthy chocolate oats recipe)
I recently saw some fresh strawberries dangling from the branches, on a farm. My kids enjoyed strawberry picking a lot! I fell in love with these beauties too.
Fresh produce always inspires me to do something good. Initially, I was not sure what to do with them. Should I make some strawberry compote? Or a milkshake maybe? However, I just wanted to incorporate them into a recipe just as they are! So, I had only one option- to use them as a topping!
Then I thought, “How about strawberries on top of chocolate something”? BOOM! ….and it struck me! I always make chocolate oats porridge for my kids( I love it too!). Strawberries are a perfect topping for this porridge. So, I decided to share this super-easy, super-healthy recipe with you all. I hope it brings joy to your kids, and to you too! You can make it any time of the day but having it as breakfast is ideal. It can be made in no time and requires the bare minimum of ingredients.

1/4 cup cocoa powder (link to buy cocoa powder)
1/2 cup organic jaggery powder/brown sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
For the garnish -
Chopped nuts of your choice(optional)
Fresh strawberries (optional)
Peanut Butter(optional)
Choco chips (optional)
Method
Take milk in a cooking pot. Add cocoa powder and jaggery powder/brown sugar to it. Give it a stir and start heating it on medium flame.
Now roll in the oats, and add vanilla essence. Cook for 4-5 minutes or till the oats are cooked.
Feel free to add more milk if the mixture is too thick.
Add chopped nuts of your choice. You can skip adding nuts if you are allergic to them.
Refrigerate it for an hour or two.
The porridge thickens up after some time. Add more milk/little water to thin its consistency a bit.
Top it up with some fresh strawberries, choco chips, and a dash of peanut butter.
CHOCOLATE OATS PORRIDGE IS READY TO BE SERVED!
SERVE COLD.
Notes -
You can add melted chocolate instead of cocoa powder to this porridge. However, cocoa powder is the healthier option.
We use rolled oats for this recipe as they cook faster. You will easily get them in your local grocery store. If you want to buy them online, I have linked them in the ingredients section.
