Baby corn fritters

(A deep-fried baby corn appetizer).

Small babies are the most beautiful things in this entire world, aren't they? So how can these little baby corns be an exception? Have you ever handled baby corn? They are just like small babies - soft, sweet and so delicate! So let’s make this delicious appetizer with these little cuties!

Ingredients

  • 250g baby corns

  • 1/2cup all-purpose flour

  • 3tbsp cornflour

  • 2tbsp rice flour

  • 2tbsp Kashmiri red chili powder

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder

  • 1/4tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp sugar

  • salt (as per taste)

  • water to make the batter

Method

  • Boil water in a container and add salt to it. Add baby corns and heat for 5 mins or pressure cook the baby corns in a small cooker(just 1 whistle). Drain the water and keep it aside.

  • Add all the ingredients except the baby corns and make a thick batter.

  • In a deep kadhai, heat enough oil to deep fry the baby corns.

  • Dip the blanched baby corns in the batter to coat them properly

  • Slowly add them to the hot oil in batches.

  • Fry on medium heat till they turn golden brown. Remove them on a kitchen paper towel to remove excess oil..

BABY CORN FRITTERS ARE READY TO SERVE!

SERVE HOT.

Notes -

  • Make a thick batter so that the baby corns are coated properly.

  • Serve these fritters with tomato ketchup and/or green chutney.

  • Fry the excess batter and relish the small batter balls!
